The focus of the trip June 17-24, 2017 will be to help the communities of Mosovi and San Simón. We have been able to assist with construction of a new church, repair on existing structures, painting, Bible School, and contributing to the water project in Mosovi. The 2017 trip will continue the finishing touches on bringing potable water to the Mosovi community and also to return to San Simón to repair flood damage to the perimeter wall that occurred during recent flooding.
Chris Nyland, Linda O’Dell, Tom O’Dell, Dick Southby have applied and been accepted as part of this year’s EDWM mission. Our group will work on bringing potable water to the remote village of Mosovi. The challenge to deliver water there was made worse when the only bridge into the village was washed away.
Please pray our group and the on-going work in the Dominican Republic. To learn more, visit http://dominicandevelopmentgroup.org/.
The D.R.E.A.M. Project (Dominican Republic and Episcopal churches in All of lower Michigan) is a collaboration between the three Episcopal Dioceses of the lower peninsula of Michigan working with the Dominican Development Group to do transformational ministry alongside the people of the Diocese of the Dominican Republic. This shared ministry began back in the early 2000s and since then we have worked alongside our Dominican brothers and sisters to build several church buildings, work on family homes, and put on Vacation Bible School programs. Now that the Church of San Simón has been completed, the focus is switching to a nearby village. The village of Mosovi has no potable water. The new project plans to bring a well to Mosovi and perhaps restore an empty clinic for medical mission.
